Transforming Lives and Communities Through Impact Investing with David Simms

Full Show Notes:

Impact Investing and Africa’s Poverty Crisis

According to David, Africa has failed to eradicate extreme poverty. Now, this is despite the fact that most African countries boast some of the most rapidly growing economies in the world. If you go into Kenya, for example, you’ll see buildings, skyscrapers and a vibrant economy. Gone are the days when Africa was a jungle. Visit any country today, and you will be amazed at just how well these countries are doing. However, despite the vibrancy of parts of Africa, the truth is that the continent has not tackled the extreme poverty issue well. There aren’t enough jobs being created while the population growth continues to explode. The good news is that there is hope through impact investing. People like David have found a way to take investors on a journey where they invest in companies that are paying good returns while impacting thousands of people in some of the poorest countries on the planet. So when we talk about being an impact investor, it’s that combination of financial return with bettering the lives of people.
