Fundamental vs Technical Trading, Taxation of Bonds, Market Outlook

Full Show Notes:

Differences Between Fundamental and Technical Analysis

Technical analysis refers to the analysis of a security’s fair price by studying the business’s historical information and examining past trends and changes in the price of shares. In contrast, fundamental analysis is the process of analyzing the financial aspects of a business. These statements can include financial statements like the economics of the business and use that information to try and explore the fair market value of its security.

To help you better understand these two statements, think of it this way. Fundamental analysis is all about evaluating a stock based on its intrinsic value. Technical analysis, on the other hand, is a stock valuation methodology that breaks down a stock based on trends to predict the stock’s future price.

Retail Investors Pay Attention to Stocks and not Bonds

Have you ever been to a dinner party or a cocktail party where someone humble-brags about this or that stock that they’ve made a lot of money on? If you’re like most people, you probably have. But have you ever been to a party where somebody has humble-bragged about the high-yield bond in which they made a lot of money? Highly unlikely. So, what does that tell you? It tells you that retail investors, for the most part, pay attention to stocks but not bonds. As a result, we can conclude that most retail investors have vacated the entire playing field of the high-yield bond marketplace – at least on some level.
