Alternative investments—is there an opportunity in private markets

Full Show Notes:

Should You Invest in Alternative Investments?

When it comes to investing, most people prefer sticking with the more common investment avenues such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, insurance, etc. Although there’s nothing wrong with these investment vehicles, they are definitely not the only ones out there. There exists a whole universe of alternative investment options that most investors are not taking advantage of.

First, an alternative investment is a type of investment that does not fall into one of the traditional investment categories such as stocks, bonds, or cash. Alternative investments include private equity, managed futures, hedge funds, art, commodities like wine, and derivatives contracts. Most investors also classify real estate as an alternative investment.

That said, the big question is, with everything that’s going on in 2022, does it make sense to invest in alternative investments? Well, the rates are up, so you may be able to get good deals in alternatives. But stocks are down, so you may be able to get good deals in stocks, too. So, just like everything else, there will always be some risk. So always try to make informed decisions, and if you can’t, seek help from a trained expert.
